I am linking up with Tales of a Carolina Girl tonight for a Special Educator Bloghop. I am on a quest to find other Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing out there. We are few and far between, but I know many of us are out there!
So here is a little bit about me and a few pieces of advice:
Adorable blog! Love the chevron! So happy to have found you through the hop! I teach K-5 emotional support. I love your advice, especially #2. It's so easy to get caught up in everything outside your room when you work with so many grade levels. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I am eager to check out your blog.
DeleteI love your advice to just shut and door and teach. What a great reminder! It's easy to get frustrated with things that aren't in our control, but we can still teach :)

Breezy Special Ed
Thanks Brie for stopping by. It's that the truth! There is so much that is out of our control in Special Ed. You have to have thick skin to make it through sometimes.
DeleteKelly
You definitely just need to shut the door and teach sometimes! Too bad the other "stuff" gets in the way sometimes.

Thanks Misty for stopping by!
DeleteThanks for joining my blog hop and sharing your advice! I like that you say have high expectations. Just because we teach special students doesn't mean we shouldn't expect great things from them!

Tales of a Carolina Girl
Thanks Jamie for stopping by and visiting. I'm glad you created the Special Education blog hop. I am always looking for new special ed blogs to read.
DeleteI stopped by from the Blog Hop. I'm also happy to see another elementary teacher on here! Where in CA do you teach? I'm also a CA teacher!
ReplyDeleteI love your advice. It is important to have high expectations for each student at the level at which they are capable.

You AUT-a Know
Thanks Erin for stopping by blog. I'm on the Central Coast. How about you?
DeleteYou listed some great advice. Sometimes you do have to just shut the door and teach, then go with the flow when the plans change based on student needs! Hope your school year is great! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Following you now!

Burke's Special Kids
Thanks Sebrina for stopping by my blog. Being flexible is the key. I just learn to go with the flow and not get irritated at schedule changes. Not much I can do to change that. =)
DeleteYou are so right about shutting the door and just teaching and as I have said on my blog maybe going into battle and standing up against our own headteachers at times. But it is what is right for the children we teach and we owe it to them. So nice to meet you via the linky blog hop :-)
